In our quietly located sauna area in Freiburg’s Mooswald, special meditative sauna experiences such as singing bowl journeys, incense ceremonies and the traditional Baltic Pirts ritual await you – for deep relaxation, inner balance and conscious well-being.

The Singing Bowl Journey is a gentle, meditative application in the sauna or relaxation room, in which singing bowls are struck or rubbed at the edge to produce long, swinging tones. These calming sounds come from Buddhist practice and are used worldwide in meditation, yoga and relaxation therapies. Accompanied by gentle aroma impulses via essential oils, an intense experience for body, mind and senses is created.
The singing bowl journey begins with arriving at the water lily sauna, a short introduction and choosing a comfortable lying position in the dimmed, quiet atmosphere. Gentle breathing instructions help you relax your body and mind and arrive in the here and now.
In the first part, the deep fundamental tones of the singing bowls are heard, which are played in slow, flowing sequences. Periods of silence allow the vibrations to resonate and promote the release of tension. Subtle aroma impulses with pure essential oils are then distributed, which sensually deepen the relaxation experience.
In the second part, higher tones and clear vibrations are heard, accompanied by gentle breathing instructions to promote lightness and inner balance. Finally, the bowls slowly fade away, and in a short resting phase , the effect of the sounds can linger before water or tea is offered for regeneration.
The singing bowl journey is a very gentle ritual that supports deep relaxation, harmony and well-being on body, mind and senses.

The incense journey is a gentle, meditative ritual in the sauna, in which traditional incense substances such as mugwort, juniper, spruce resin or lavender are used in a targeted manner. For centuries, incense has been used in cultures around the world to cleanse, harmonize and sharpen the senses.
In the water lily sauna, we combine this tradition with moderate heat (60-65 °C) and gentle aromas to bring body, mind and senses into harmony.
After arriving in the sauna , you will be warmly welcomed and briefly introduced to the process. Fragrance sensitivities, allergies or health indications (e.g. asthma, cardiovascular, pregnancy) are also pointed out. In a quiet, dimmed atmosphere, guests take a comfortable lying position, while soft music or singing bowls support the meditative mood. The journey begins with a phase of purification and detachment. Mugwort and juniper are used here, accompanied by targeted breathing and impulses that invite you to let go of ballast and concentrate on inner peace. This is followed by the heart and middle phase, in which lavender, myrrh or spruce resin take effect. Gentle fragrances and short quiet moments help to develop inner images, to find centering and to draw strength. In the third phase, vision and clarity, frankincense and orange are used very mildly. Sound impulses accompany the guests, creating a feeling of space, orientation and inner balance. The ritual ends with a gentle ending, during which the scents slowly subside, water is offered and the guests are mindfully led back to everyday life.
The incense journey has a calming, balancing effect and gives conscious moments of mindfulness. Through the combination of gentle warmth, natural incense, meditative sounds and mindful breathing, the nervous system can relax and the mind can come to rest. The different scents help you to let go, find new clarity and strengthen your inner balance. Many guests find the incense journey a soothing break from everyday life that promotes relaxation, regeneration and a feeling of inner harmony.

Pirts is a traditional herb and birch ritual from the Baltic States. At gentle temperatures of about 60-70 °C, aromatic herbal steam, birch tassels and quiet rituals create a particularly relaxing sauna experience. Unlike a classic infusion, the focus here is not on the heat, but on a deliberately designed process with warmth, scents and rest phases. The ritual can support the respiratory tract, loosen the muscles, care for the skin and provides deep relaxation and regeneration through its calm rhythm.
The ritual takes place in a small group in our water lily sauna. At the beginning, you will be briefly introduced to the process and can get in the mood for the ritual in a quiet atmosphere. This is followed by a gentle warm-up phase with mild herbal steam and pleasant warmth. During the ritual, birch tassels are used, which are gently stroked, tapped or fanned over the back, arms and legs in small, rotating groups. This makes the heat particularly pleasant on the skin and stimulates blood circulation. In between, there are conscious break and cool-down phases in which you can drink, relax or enjoy a foot bath. After a cooling phase together, the ritual is rounded off with a natural peeling, for example made of honey or salt, which ensures a pleasantly soft skin feeling. Finally, there is a short rest phase with water or herbal tea so that body and circulation can calm down again.
The Pirts is therefore much more than a classic sauna session – it is a holistic ritual for relaxation, regeneration and well-being.
