Small group therapy according to McMillan

10-point program of the Halliwick method according to McMillan:
This is the heart of the method, in which motor skills are gradually built up in the water:

  1. Mental adaptation / water habituation
  2. Sagittal rotation control (forward rotation)
  3. Transverse rotation control (longitudinal rotation)
  4. Longitudinal rotation control (sideways rotation)
  5. Combined rotation control
  6. Buoyancy/Spiritual Conversion
  7. Equilibrium
  8. Gliding on turbulence
  9. Elemental locomotion
  10. Basic swimming style


Application in therapy:
The Halliwick method is particularly used in neurophysiological rehabilitation, e.g. for:

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Spinal cord injury

Also very suitable for orthopedic and pediatric cases.


Advantages:

  • Improvement of balance, coordination, body tension and mobility
  • Promotion of independence
  • Reduction of spasticity through warm water
  • Pain reduction

This application requires a medical indication and requires a prescription.
