Movement training and safety in the water according to Halliwick

thumbnail

The Halliwick Method, developed by James McMillan, uses the special properties of water: it carries, relaxes and makes movement easy. Originally intended as a swimming program for people with disabilities, it is now an integral part of water treatment.

Why Halliwick?

  • Gentle & effective – water relieves pressure on joints and muscles
  • More flexibility and balance – playful exercises promote coordination and body tension
  • Less pain and spasticity – warm water relaxes
  • More self-confidence and freedom – motivating success in the water

How does it work?
With a 10-step program, participants learn:

  • Breath control
  • To gain confidence in the water
  • Safe to glide, turn and move
  • Develop swimming movements – adapted to individual possibilities

For whom?
Ideal for neurological diseases (e.g. stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy), orthopaedic problems and in paediatric therapy (from 10 years of age).

Participation in the course is only possible with an accompanying person.

The course fees are not covered by health insurance and must be paid privately.
